Questions, not answers
Connecting two worlds of infinite differences is the
mysterious and little understood Passage that takes the form a
strange and ancient pyramid-like construction in the Realms of Wonder
and the Theory of Transportation in the Far World.
What is the Passage? Where does it come
from? Does it connect to any other worlds?
Does it connect different realities or different times...or
both?
There are many tales, myths, legends, and theories concerning the answer
to these questions and many more ones that have been asked...but the
truth is that no one actually knows any of the answers.
The Passage is like gravity in that its existence proves itself.
Once it opened people now know that
it works, but they just don't know how it works.
Parallel universes, differing times
Many believe that the Passage connects
parallel universes that run in different time frames. This theory
is confirmed by the fact that time passes differently in the two
universes. Travelers that have moved between the worlds find that
they have gained or lost days, months, and even years sometimes when
crossing back to their own worlds. It appears that
"time" in the Far World moves quicker than in the Realms of
Wonder: those Far Worlders that travel in the Realms of
Wonder find that almost no time what so ever has elapsed in the
Far World since they left it...despite months and years having been
lived in the land of Fae. On the other hand, Fae
that make it past the Templar guards and into the Far World
come back to find that years have past, families and friends have
died or moved, and the entire world is different. The
latter is what is sometimes thought to have happened to the Yellow
Emperor and some even go so far as to suggest that he is still
actually alive in the Far World and might return one day.
So...are there other parallel worlds? Are
there other times in other worlds? Are there
times that go backwards...? Could you not live
forever hoping between different times...or end up erasing your past and
loosing your past? Past,
present, and the future
Others speak about the Passage in terms of it
being a tunnel connecting the past and the future. How the
Realms of Wonder are actually the Far World in times before
the Web. This is given weight by an odd few
ruins found on deserted Far World planets that resemble strange
pyramids and hint at a distant inhabitation. Perhaps, even one
of them is the Realms of Wonder...whisper some
on the fringes of this theory...or (stranger yet) that the Realms of
Wonder are the long-fabled "Earth"... Some say that Dr.
Starke and those that disappeared after the successful experiment on
Section 51 were thrown into another time and lost somewhere in
the past or future, and others discuss the Yellow Emperor in the
same terms. Perhaps the two are sitting somewhere
on an island floating in distant times... The only
bothering bit of this theory is, which is the present...or where is
the present. Is the Realms of Wonder the past
of the Far World; making the Far World the present?
Is it the other way round? Or...is there
another world that lies between the two: the real present...?
...and the Fractayle continues.
Amidst all the mystery the single certainty is that the Passage
truly exists and with it's opening the two worlds that it connects will
never be the same again. In every sense of the word: the Fractayle begins
now... |
